1950s

  • General Haulage had taken a firm hold on the business and the fleet and employees had grown. Whilst Removals remained strong business the coal business was sidelined as removals had seen peoples requirements change meaning they were moving further away and not just locally.

The business was a significant employer in Ashton-Under-Lyne where most of the staff lived.  The family member with the responsibility of heading up the business was Graham Hadfield, who lived with his family in Glossop at Coombes House Simmondley
